September Classes 2012

Hi everyone,
Another month of great classes coming up.
Stacey & Philarney

Class #1. Sat. Sept. 15 & 22 9:00am - 11:00am
I have designed a double-page sketch & have teamed it with 2 interpretations of that sketch to help you create a striking layout. For this month's kit I have used We R Memory Keepers Anthologie range. We will creating a colour blocked layout with a painted border. There are six photos, one of which is an enlargement making it the main feature.

Class #2. Sat. Sept. 15 & 22 11:30am - 1:30pm
This double-page layout takes its inspiration from Kaiser Craft’s beautifully faded Lake House Collection of papers. We will be ‘shabby chic-ing’ the papers and embellishments, adding delicate, textural rose ribbon and rose wooden flourishes to create these timeless, pretty pages.

Class #3. Sat. Sept. 15 & 22 2:00pm - 4:00pm
This layout is all about a burst of colour. This layout features a sunburst on one page which is balanced by a textured & layered graduation of colour on the 2nd page. I have used oranges & yellows on a blue background to create a beachy theme, however the kit could also be reds to pink or blue to green. Please let me know of your choice when booking into this class.

We are going to make some cards this month. The accent will be cute little owls and the backgrounds are jazzed up with embossing from the Cuttlebug! This class is suitable for children aged 6+ and numbers are limited to 8, so get in quick!

Gift idea

How beautiful is this idea.
This would be a great gift for Christmas, for a friend or
family member or even for Father's Day.

Keeping warm

We are starting to get some nice sunny days at the end of this long Winter. Hopefully it won't be long until Spring warmth is upon us.

2 of my friends just got their electricity bills... $900 and $1200! We were scared about this happening to us so we took drastic measures this Winter.

Luckily we have a North facing house which warms our living, dining and kitchen area during the day. At night instead of using the heater and electric blankets we opted for wheat packs.

You can buy these at the chemist and other places but if you have a sewing machine or can borrow one, then you can make your own for a fraction of the cost. Even I can make them and I am not an expert sewer by any stretch of the imagination!

You just need a bag of wheat (from an organic shop or health food store), material - I just used scraps and of course a sewing machine with cotton.

Here are a few pics of how I put mine together - very basic!

Fold a piece of material in half
Sew along two edges
Double-stitched, one side is left open
Turn it inside out
Approximately half fill with wheat
Sew the open edge closed,
hand stitch for a neater edge!
Pop in the microwave with a cup of
water for one and a half to two minutes
depending on your microwave
