Time saving ideas

With little time to spare over the Christmas and new year period, but with lots of photos to scrap, do you wonder how can you manage to create pages to celebrate all that you have done? Here are some ideas that might save you some time:

  • Choose co-ordinating papers and embellishments. This sounds obvious, but sometimes we need reminding that they are there for a purpose, which is to make scrapbooking faster and less complicated for the time poor.
  • Start with a sketch - again obvious, but a great way to begin. Some popular websites, that have something to offer both beginner and more experienced scrapbookers, include Becky Fleck’s Page Maps, Pencil Lines, Stuck Sketches, Sketch Support and Sketchabilities. Additionally, if you have a page that you have already created and really love, use the sketch again. If will look completely different using different colours and papers, and no-one will be any the wiser.
  • If you have particular photos in mind, you can find more specific inspiration in the form of challenges, many of which offer colour combinations to assist you in beginning to choose papers and embellishments. Sites that offer particular challenges include: The Color Room, Scrap the boys (yes the name does mean exactly what it says) as well as Kraft It Up (if you love your Kraft card). These websites also have their own design teams which offer examples of the challenges and sketches to give you further inspiration.
  • And lastly, if you have a favourite brand or scrapbooker check out their website and find inspiration from them to make an easy start to your pages.
I hope this has offered some inspiration that lets you keep you creating over this busy time of year.

Christmas Cards

Have you started making your Christmas cards? Maybe you have chosen to buy yours this year.
For those of you that are creating your own I thought I would share a couple of my cards and a link to some inspiration.
My Christmas card motto is: they have to be simple. I make around 30 Christmas cards for friends and family each year so I can't be fussing or agonising over the perfect layout or embellishments.
Here are a few of my quick cards from this year.

I use all my left over papers and off cuts, stamps, printed titles and even parts of cards from previous years.
If you need some fresh inspiration try Page Maps they have card sketches and examples.
Good luck to those taking on the challenge!

I Heart Pinning!

What is Pinterest?

Pinterest is a virtual pinboard. Pinterest allows you to organise and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. You can browse pinboards created by other people to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests.

People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and share their favorite recipes.
Warning: It is as addictive as blog hopping :)
My favourite pinners are Ali Edwards, Cathy Zielske and Donna Downey.

Some colour inspiration...

Do you ever feel stuck for inspiration? Do you ever look at your photos and see the colours, and still don't feel inspired? I do this all the time. Or I see the colours and feel torn as to which colour I should highlight or which colours I should combine...
How about looking at your pages from another direction then? How about starting with a colour combination...
The Color Room (http://thecolorroom.ning.com) is a great website to look at for inspiration in this area. Not only does it provide inspiration for colour combinations, but it gives you a sketch and ideas for texture on your page. If you still feel stuck, they have guest designers and many interpretations on the sketch and colour choices too.
And if that isn't enough - if you go to the Palettes menu and select Palette Album from the drop menu, you can see all of the previous colour and sketch inspirations.
Enjoy!

If you have a laptop with Photoshop, please bring it with you, along with a power cord. We may need to share laptops so that everyone can have a turn. Make sure you have a few photos, they can be of people, scenery, pets, etc. Class includes notes and nibblies.

Saying "See you soon"!

Hi everyone!

Sarah here - just popping in for my last post here at the Scissors Paper Ink blog!

As some of you may know, I am now working and teaching classes at Pages2Scrap - a scrapbooking store in Tuggerah. So I have decided to concentrate my energies on my classes there, and will no longer be teaching classes at Kincumber as a part of Scissors, Paper, Ink.

I'm sad to be leaving the girls, and I wish them all the best for the future! I just know they're going to have lots of fabulous projects and events to keep you busy!

You can find out about my upcoming classes on my blog here.

I have really appreciated everyone's support, both at Erina, and with Scissors, Paper Ink. I've met some lovely ladies and I really enjoy coming to classes and seeing you all!

Many of you have already come to my classes at Pages2Scrap, and I thank you for your continued support! So I'm not saying Goodbye - I'm saying "See you soon"!

~Sarah~

PS: Stacey will be doing the blogging here now, so It's over to you Stace! :)
